about

This is a true story. It happened to my ex-brother in law. I thought it was so cool I knew I had to write a song about it. What I didn't know is that it would take so long to finish it. I've literally been working on it for OVER 40 years! I'm tickled with how it turned out.

lyrics

Goin’ Alabama
Russ Still & The Moonshiners

V1
Me and Jack was at the shop
Workin’ on an engine block
A scream stopped us in our tracks

We dropped our tools, ran out front
Wondering what was goin’ on
What we saw made us boilin’ mad

Bad guys with money bags
Running from the city bank
Bout to make their get away

I looked at Jack, he looked back
We weren’t putting up with that
We was gonna make ‘em pay

CHORUS
We're Goin’ Alabama
Push us we're gonna push back
Just because we talk slow, don't mean we don't know
How to watch after our back
We always take care of our own
Its bred in our bones
We born with that redneck pride
Rollin’ like the Crimson Tide
We Goin’ Alabama

V2
Jumped in and started chasin’
I could feel my heart a racin’
We knew the best was yet to come

The police soon joined the ride
Tires squealing, flashing lights
Boy you can't buy this kind of fun

They were runnin' wide open
Had no idea where they were goin'
We knew that we could chase 'em down

Drivin hard, stickin tight
We could run like this all night
Hell bent and heaven bound

CHORUS

V3
We're easy folks who love some fun
But when it's all said and done
We ain't scared of a fight

If you want to stir it up
I don't suggest you press your luck
Cause it's gon be one crazy ride

CHORUS
